Refresh your life!

Feeling happy every day is something to aspire to!   Sometimes this is hard to do because of high expectations or a tendency to focus on the negatives instead of the positives. However, there are things you can do every day to help you find happiness and refresh your life.

It is important to spend time focusing on making yourself feel happy and content. Many people spend too much time worrying about if they are achieving enough, or if they are successful enough. They frequently compare themselves to others and find themselves lacking. However, this attitude is unhealthy – and more importantly, it is a waste of your time.

It is most important to spend time making yourself happy and improving yourself so your life improves without you even realizing it. Here are some of my favourite suggestions of little ways you can refresh your lift every day and find happiness.

  • Remember your childhood and do something you use to love, watch a funny cartoon or hit the park up and have some fun!
  • Smile at everyone you pass, not only will it make you feel happy, you never know how much that act of kindness will mean to the recipient!
  • Dance!  Anywhere the mood strikes you, while making dinner, walking to the bus stop, in the grocery store!
  • Wander the streets near your home and discover new paths and shops.
  • Keep a gratitude journal and write down three things every day that you are grateful for in your life big and little from family and friends to the pretty flower that popped up on your lawn.
  • Spend some electronic-free quality time with your best friend or significant other.
  • Watch the sunset or the sunrise and appreciate nature’s natural, calming beauty.
  • Sleep in late and then make yourself a delicious, healthy breakfast and your favorite hot drink as you appreciate the power of restoring your reserves from time to time.
  • Compliment your friends and co-workers whenever you get the opportunity to.
  • Find an animal and enjoy some unconditional love!
  • Listen to your favorite album as a teenager and remember your youth.
  • Spend some time in the kitchen creating healthy food choices you can grab on the go all week and feel good about how you are fueling your body.
  • Start that book you have been meaning to read.
  • Enjoy the sunny days by eating outside and getting some vitamin D with your meal.
  • Reconnect with someone you don’t speak to often – a quick phone call or text to check in with each other will put a smile on both of your faces!

Happiness is a choice, sometimes we just need to choose to focus on the positive and be kind to ourselves and others to bring those refreshed, satisfied happy feelings into our lives.
